"I'm an insect who dreamt he was a man and loved it. But now the dream is over... and the insect is awake." - The Fly (1986). I am practicing some After Effects and decided to make a short motion graphic to this quote. [embed]http://https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zHEFPDjtvc[/embed]
So, I've stayed away from it for years, but I am now trying to delve into the mysterious ciaos that is Tumblr. I will still be posting here of course, but feel free to follow me on my Tumblr as well. The stuff I post there might be rougher and less finished than some of the things I post here. More works in progress and funny gifs. Should be more soon so be sure to check it out!
I updated my demo reel with some of the work I have been doing this semester. I hope you enjoy it! Some of the shots are from our student film "Nautia" which will be showing in film festivals soon. After we put it in festivals it should be available online as well. I'll let you know when that happens.
Demo Reel Breakdown:
"Nautia": Shots 56, 57, 57a, and 58 (Fall 2014) responsible for rough animation
"Zombie Waking Up": (Fall 2013) responsible for all animation and cinematic elements
"Water Effects" : (Spring 2013) responsible for all animation and cinematic elements
"Nautia": Shot 55 (Fall 2014) responsible for rough animation and clean-up
"Falling Masses" : (Spring 2013) responsible for all animation and cinematic elements
"Faun Walk Cycle" : (Fall 2013) responsible for all animation and cinematic elements
"Nautia": Shot 54 (Fall 2014) responsible for clean-up on whale, girl and jellyfish. Responsible for shadow effect and glow effects of jellyfish.
Here is a sneak peek of our student film "Nautia". The storyboards shown were some of mine from when we were first brainstorming different story lines and characters. For more videos, sneak peaks, and updates visit our site. [vimeo http://vimeo.com/109030042 w=750&h=400]
Last semester, in my animation 3 class, I was working on an animation about a zombie getting up in the morning. Parts of this animation, as well as some previous ones, are shown in the reel below. I will probably update this reel soon. I had to make it in a hurry and would have liked to have taken more time editing it together. Anyway, for those of you who have not seen any of my animation, this is a collection of some of my best work.
Look! I kept my promise of posting on Tuesday. So I have been working on this for a while in order to practice modeling and learn about particles in maya. In case you cannot tell, I am a huge Harry Potter fan and this time turner is not of my own design, but is based off the version in the movies. I had a lot of fun and a lot of frustration with this. Here is to learning and improvement. I will try to post again next Tuesday!
If you are following my blog, you may have seen some of the animations from my demo reel already. This is everything from my animation II class this semester with a nice bow on top(and by bow I mean music). I meant to post this sooner. I know I say that every time, but I really did! I am thinking of maybe making deadlines for myself in the future. Perhaps, every Tuesday? Anyway, if you have never seen any of my animations, this is the one to check out!
Under ideal conditions, I would have liked to have had the time to make more background elements for this animation. However, this was during finals and time was...well... limited. After last week being so busy its been nice to have this past week to relax, but I promise to have more work up really soon.
I've been meaning to post this, but lately I've been so busy that I hardly remember to breathe. Well, now finals are over and I am done with school for the semester. Hopefully, I will be able to increase my posts over the summer. I plan on returning to some of my traditional roots and doing more 3D sculpey work . I also want to practice digital painting some more.
This was a short animation I did to practice using the camera tool and multiple planes in toon boom harmony for my animation II. I thought I might as well have fun with it and put a BAT LlAMMA in the background.
This is my special effects animation from my animation II class. We had to do choose an element and animate it. I chose water.
If this is the second time you are seeing this post it is because the previous one didn't have sound!
Another rough animation to sound for my animation class. The sound clip is from the Prestige, which, by the way, is an awesome movie.
So this was an exercise for my animation class. It is a rough of my little character lifting an empty box and them trying to lift a refrigerator ..and failing miserably.
For my animation II class we were supposed to design a character that we can use throughout the semester for our assignments. This way we would not have to waste time designing a new character before each assignment. I came up with this simple design of a girl I call Susan. I think that she will be fun to animate and I am exited to get started.
Sorry again for waiting forever to post. I've just been so busy lately, but that means I have more to show to make up for it over the next few days! First things first. A while ago in my animation II class we were given 3 key-frames of Ratcliffe from Pocahontas and had to make the in betweens. I know it is a short clip on repeat, but let me just say that fine-tuning the line art took forever. I spent 9 hours in the labs one Sunday and that was just a portion of the time I've put into this piece. Call me crazy, but I loved doing it all the same.
I will probably try to color this and fix some small things up later.
So this is my group's final product for our project pipeline project that we have been working on for the last 5 weeks. This is a student made and student directed project. To see the blog of the director Emma click here.
And this is our "Making of" for "The Lost Files". Enjoy!
This week I finished roughing out the scenes assigned to me (13, 14, and 15). In some of the scenes I manipulated the storyboard so that the viewer gets the sense of background movement. For the creature, I wanted to add character to his movements and make sure that he never truly stays still. It was actually quite fun to animate the bubbly little creature. What was more difficult were some of the walk and run cycles involved in these scenes. Her pony tail seems to move a bit too much during the walk in scene 13. In scene 15, I decided to make her notice the slenderman before running to add more character and give more reason for the run. All in all, i had really enjoyed animating these scenes.
another assignment for animation 1
This is an assignment for my animation 1 class.
